RIP Gene Hackman. A really nice man and an extraordinary actor, which is why he was in such high demand in so many great movies. I'm glad he won 2 Oscars and received 5 nominations. 1 win for Best actor and 1 win for Best Supporting actor cos his talent definitely needed that level of recognition. I'm surprised he was not also nominated for 'The Poseidon Adventure' and 'Crimson Tide', as he was incredible in those 2 films also.

Gene as Lex Luthor in Superman was my first exposure to the amazing actor. I was just a kid at the time, but I remember being awed by how effortlessly he played the consummate villain, charming but menacing. It wasn't until watching him in BAT 21 years later that I realized he was one of my favorite actors.

Gene Hackman is one of the last of the Mohegans. A real life Hollywood movie star. Gene Hackman portrayal of the preacher in The Poseidon Adventure was as good as any movie character in movie 🎥 history.

I remember many years ago, I was really sad when he announced his retirement from acting. He left such a legacy. What a legend. He’ll always be missed. Anyway, I thought Dustin Hoffman should have said the eulogy.
